Conveniently located midway between Vancouver and Calgary. Canada’s central roadway, #1 runs right through the Shuswap region. Within a three-hour driving radius, you can experience authentic indigenous culture, foodie feasts, outdoor adventures, family traditions, or festival vibes. Not all in the same day, of course, we appreciate a healthy amount of kicking back and putting our feet up, wandering through the shops, and taking in the sounds of the Shuswap.

LEARN MORE
The Kicking Horse Canyon, located just east of Golden, BC, is one of the most rugged and scenic sections to be found on the Trans-Canada Highway. Three phases of work have transformed 21 kilometres of narrow, winding two-lane highway into a modern four-lane, 100 km/h standard. Construction of the fourth and final phase to complete the remaining – and most difficult – 4.8 kilometres has begun and is expected to be complete in 2024.
This project will improve traveller safety on the Trans Canada Highway. Learn about the Kicking Horse Canyon project here.
